Narcissos och höstvinden (Narcissus and the Autumn Wind)
Performed:
Choreographer: Birgit Cullberg
In the work Narcissus and the Autumn Wind, Birgit Cullberg drew inspiration from Greek mythology, as in previous pieces.
“… she sends an autumn breeze in the form of a woman to push Narcissus out of his self-reflection, tumble with him on the ground and give him a go before he sinks into his beauty dream again. Is it the choreographer’s own struggle with overly introverted and self-reflective dances that lies behind this choice? “
The critic Anna Greta Ståhle in Dagens Nyheter Quoted in Erik Näslund’s book Birgit Cullberg.
Music: Otto Luening (Gargoyles, för violinsolo och elektroniskt ljud)
Costume: Lennart Mörk
World premiere : 1967
