We are looking for a Sound Technician
Cullberg is a national and international contemporary dance company based in Botkyrka outside Stockholm, founded by Birgit Cullberg in 1967. Together with invited choreographers and artistic teams, we give space and time to in-depth work where we investigate what dance and choreography can be, how dance can be produced and presented. Together we create a repertoire that comments on and reflects the present. We work continuously so that a large audience in Sweden and internationally can experience contemporary dance. Kristine Slettevold is artistic director. Cullberg is part of Riksteatern – The Swedish National Touring Theatre.
About the position
As a Sound Technician, you will be responsible for sound-related technical work and equipment for all Cullberg productions, both on tour and during “home periods” at Riksteatern in Farsta (temporary placement during spring 2025) and Hallunda. You will work closely with the sound designer and composers to develop solutions tailored to tour conditions during the production of new works. Additionally, you will ensure that sound related documentation for each production is kept up to date. Cullberg keeps 5-6 productions in its repertoire annually.
Main Duties
- Assess upcoming venues and stages for tour , participate in planning an finalize technical rider together with Cullberg technical team.
- Adjust the production sound design for stages and auditorium on tour
- Prepare, set up, pack, and dismantle sound equipment. If necessary, purchase additional equipment for tour venues and ensure all equipment is in good working condition.
- Maintaining and lighter repairing of audio and video equipment.
- Manage video documentation of each performance.
The work also includes that you might need to do set-up and run light cues, help with stage set-up and cleaning and some costume maintenance.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with technical training or equivalent work experience relevant to this role.
You have:
- Experience as a sound engineer in performing arts or similar production environments.
- Experience of operating live sound during performances, mixing composed material during the production process, and recording/editing sound files.
- Experience of working within artistic processes and touring.
- Skills in setting up and operating lighting, with basic troubleshooting and programming knowledge for lighting consoles such as MA.
- Proficiency in programming digital mixers and playback systems (e.g., Yamaha QL series and QLab).
The department’s working language is English, so you must be proficient in spoken and written English. Knowledge of Swedish is beneficial. Additionally, you should be skilled in Microsoft Office and comfortable using various systems and programs. A valid driver’s license (B category) is essential.
Knowledge or experience with lightlight and video is considered a merit.

Terms
This is a full-time position located in Farsta until June 2025, and then in Hallunda. It is a temporary position until 31 July 2027.
The role requires frequent travel, both within Sweden and internationally, as well as evening and weekend work.
